Perhaps monotonous punishment is a blessing as one does not have to worry about the Great Punisher inventing an additional multitude of protocols for punishment options.
When I was a kid, the whole class got punished and the whole class had to write lines. My mom found the lines in my pile of homework and asked why I was punished for talking aloud in class.
She was puzzled why a quiet kid like me had to write lines for talking out in class. As a small child, I didn’t think it was fair everyone was punished because the teacher couldn’t figure out which kids were talking.

Many moons ago a long-term sub demanded that my daughter write “I will not talk in class” three hundred times. I did not agree with this tactic or message, but my talking got me nowhere. 😆

It does not seem fair to punish innocent people. I hope you didn’t get in trouble with your mother as well.
